Back Deck &
Headrest
The above photo is not the
headrest that is supplies with the 303 kit. The headrest
supplied by Fisher is wide at the base
and narrows at the top. It also narrows as it goes back to the
tail. I started building my headrest that was supplied in the
kit, and I messed it up. I ordered some replacement wood from
Fisher to try it again.
Before I received my replacement
wood from Fisher a couple of other guys and I were discussing
storage space on the 303. There isn't any. One of the guys put
a door in the top of his headrest and was using it for storage.
Above is a photo of my headrest.
Mine is narrower than Fishers and mine is also straight sided
and it is the same width from front to back. This caused a couple
of problems. The slots for the 4 point shoulder harness were partly
under the headrest when it was in the correct position. This was
easily solved by moving the slots out and back a short distance
.
With the narrower headrest
it was impossible to fill the gas tank. That was solved by making
a separate door over the gas tank.
You can see in this photo
the doors for the headrest and fuel tank. Hinges and latches won't
be installed until final assembly,
