Wing Assembly Page 1
The first thing I did before
I started building the wing was to make sure the table top was
level. On the left down
the side of the table there
are blocks used as a straight edge for the trailing edge. The
trailing edge is put into position and nailed down to the table.
The ribs and false ribs
are slid into position and everything is squared up. You then
glue the trailing edge and at this time you only glue the top
sided of the ribs to the spars. Between the rib cap and main spar
there is a gap. you make 1/4"scrap material and make wedges
and glue them in to fill the gap.
Next you install 1/4"
X 3/4" stringers down the wing on the top and bottom down
the front of the rib. The top stringer is beveled and this is
done before it is attached. The leading edge former's are glued
onto the stringers as shown. Also at this time the false ribs
are glued to the stringers and glued into position with the wedges
like the full ribs were. While all of this is being done you can
install the geodetic on the top side of the wing.
After the above is all done
you turn the wing over. You make sure it is all square and level.
You glue into place the ribs and fals ribs. Then you install the
geodetic on the bottom side of the wing.
