Wing Construction

Next in the construction
process is to build the aleron. This photo shows the construction
of the aleron spar which is made out of 1/8" ply. This photo
shows a splice in the aileron ply . At the time I figured out
I would not have had enough wood if I didn't make the splice.
The aileron spar is glued
into position as seen in this photo. Next you install 1/4"
square wood between the ribs as you can see in this photo. The
aleron leading edge plywood is attached to this. Next you would
cut off the aileron.
After the aileron is
cut off the aileron end caps and the leading edge plywood former
are installed. After this is all dry you install the leading edge
plywood.
As you can see in this
photo I installed geodetic in the aileron. This is not part of
the plans. When I installed the leading edge plywood on the aileron
there was a slight twist. in it. The only way I could correct
the problem was to make sure it was flat on the table and install
geodetic to take the twist out.
