Wing Construction
Page 5
The wing under construction
on the previous page's was the left wing. The only difference
between the left and right wings is that the right wing has a
wing walk installed.
Here is a photo showing
the wing walk under construction on the right wing. Building this
part on the wing walk was pretty easy. When I got to this point
I had two problems. First - the 1/8" plywood that was supplied
by Fisher was the correct width but it was to short.I called Mike
Makepeace about it and it was decided that I would just use some
scrap plywood on the part where I was short. That would be attached
at the rear spar side.
My second problem was the
actual attachment of the wing walk ply to the wings. The plans
show attaching the end cap on before you attach the wing walk
ply. There is no place to attach c-clamps. Mike Makepeace tolkd
me I had to attach the walk plywood first.
This photo shows the wing
walk plywood attached with the with the end cap being glued at
that time. The side plate sticks out past the wing walk 1/8".
This was finished off with with T-88 and brown baby powder.
When actually gluing on
the wing walk have plenty of c-clamps.
Here is the finished wing
showing the wing walk.
Here is the same wing from
the other side
